Apple Watch Still Top-Selling smartwatch globally: Counterpoint Report

According to the market data by Counterpoint Report, Apple has shipped more than 12 Million models of Apple Watch 6 Series and Apple Watch SE in the forth quarter of 2020.

The global smartwatch market saw an overall decline in smartwatch shipping as compared to the last year due to the Covid-19. However, Apple saw a 19% increase in shipments in its Apple Watch 6 Series and Apple Watch SE. Apple was the only company that controlled 34% of the market in the Q4 of 2020 alone. And in the final quarter of 2020, they saw an increase in their shipment up to 40%.

On the other hand, Samsung was with just 10% of the market from October 2020 – December 2020. In 2020’s 4th quarter, Apple owned 34% of the smartwatch market while Samsung was just only 9%.

Counterpoint analyst Sujeong Lim says, “The smartwatch market is being driven by three premium brands – Apple, Samsung, and Huawei,”. She also added, “We believe that ASPs will continue to rise over the next two or three years as these companies’ flagship models continue to lead. On the other hand, Apple’s success with its Watch SE model will likely spur others like Samsung to release similar variants, moving close to the mass market.”
